Hepatitis: What Is It and How Do You Prevent It?

Hepatitis: What Is It and How Do You Prevent It?

Hepatitis is an inflammatory condition of the liver. Usually, it’s caused by a viral infection, but there are other possible causes of hepatitis, such as autoimmune hepatitis or hepatitis that happens as a result of drugs, toxins, medications, and alcohol.

This disease affects many facilities and areas with poor sanitation, and many individuals are not aware that they have it and have not gotten the right health assistance for it.

There are 5 types of Hepatitis:

  1. Hepatitis A
Is due to an infection with the Hepatitis A virus or HAV and is commonly transmitted by takin in food or water that’s contaminated by the feces of a person with hepatitis A.
  2. Hepatitis B
Is spread through contact with infectious boy fluids, such as blood, vaginal secretions, or semen containing the hepatitis B virus (HBV).
  3. Hepatitis C
Is similar to hepatitis B, as it is transmitted through direct contact with body fluids with a person who has the hepatitis C virus (HCV).
  4. Hepatitis D
Is also called delta hepatitis and is caused by the hepatitis D virus (HDV). This virus is transmitted through direct contact with infected blood.
  5. Hepatitis E
On the other hand, is a waterborne disease that’s caused by the hepatitis E virus (HEV).
