PERFECT HANDS CLINIC, a medical clinic in Africa, strives to provide different individuals and families with affordable and convenient care anytime they require it. Our on-call doctors respond quickly to common and some challenging diseases and injuries that do not necessitate immediate hospitalization.
As a medical service provider, we also make it a point to assist with wound care. Some patients may have recent cuts, while others may have unclean wounds at risk of infection. These occur because our patients receive incorrect medical information online or in person.
Wound healing can become more complicated and time-consuming as we age, especially if we have other health issues that impede recovery. Advanced age, diabetes, heart and blood flow issues, autoimmune diseases, and leg edema are all conditions that might hinder healing. These usually require just minor emergency care.
Believing old wives’ tales about wounds is not a good idea. Proper health assistance is necessary to prevent risks and other severities. First and foremost, alcohol should not be used to clean and disinfect a wound. It is preferable to clean the wound with soap and water or iodine.
Scabbing does not always indicate that a wound is healing. Always keep your wounds moist and covered. This sequence of fluid and particles solidifying into a film over your incision or scrape completely impedes healing.
Using honey to treat a wound is also not recommended unless it is genuine medical-grade honey, such as Manuka or Leptospermum honey. Make sure not to use bottled honey from the grocery store, as it is primarily sugar.
